Not a bad idea, but what about . . .
* Incompatible versions -- 'you want the tapes for WHAT version? We
installed that one with punch cards . . .
* Media issues -- in more ways than one.
* Rollforward would take a long time . . . users might get a bit
upset with the duration of the unavailability.
