Does this include me, Casper, Alan, Tony and all the other Sun employees
who post thousands and thousands of messages to various newsgroups each
year - almost every one a response to someone problem or question?

The occasional post pointing to a whitepaper on Sun's website which will
be of use to many of the readers of this newsgroup most certainly isn't
SPAM.
