As I don't own an Ultra 10 I can only talk about my Blade 2000.
The two main sources of noise are:
1. Two big (119mm x 119mm x 38mm) fans
2. The disc(s)

Both fans are temperature controlled but they produce some air flow
noise even when the machine is idle.
Both produce enough noise such that the disc is no problem ;-)

I have replaced one of the fans by a low noise Papst fan. After this
I was able to hear the original SUN 72G disc (MAN3735F) and thus
replaced it by a Seagate ST373207FC.
Now I can only hear the disc during reads or writes.

After all I have to conclude that my machine is louder than my PCs,
but it is bearable.
