Detect/install network interfaces Hi All,
I am a "Newbie" to linux only previous experience with Windows and Novell.
So PLEASE excuse my ignorance.
Here is the scoop;
I am trying to install/run Debian "Woody 3or4" on my HP Netserver LC2000;
the server has a dual processor PIII933Mhz(which I am aware that there are
"issues" with the "SMP" support, but that's not my concern now)
it also has 1GB of RAM, two network interfaces Intel 82557 Ethernet Pro 100
rev 08.
During the initial installation I was able to see/configure the "onboard"
NIC to grab an IP from my router successfully. After rebooting the NIC
doesn't load( "ifconfig" returns only loopback information), I tried running
/installing "discover", which doesn't seem to detect it either.
All my installations are done from CD image downloaded from the website, I
can't download any packages directly for the obvious reason that I don't
have network connection.
Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated....thanks in advance
NB:the network card is enabled in BIOS, actually it shows as one of the PCI
devices when I run "lspci" on the terminal |
