7.0 is old! It will work, and it's fine (but for a few security updates

I've never used FIPS at all, but I can tell you that it is a DOS error
you're seeing. You might (or might not) have problems getting back into
DOS. Do run scandisk as the message advised. You will not have any
problems with Linux as a result of this one-time DOS crash.
