have you read the man pages for swaret? (if not installed on your system,
then available at <http://www.swaret.org/?menu=swaret8>) it's pretty clear
about the meaning of both switches.

as for slapt-get, i'm sure the man page or online documentation
<http://software.jaos.org/> will tell you what you need to know as well.
