There's a good, small help file for installing cups on slack, look at
www.userlocal.com ...it's done from the cmdline using lpadmin...there's also
a list of files you need to have installed.

Better you read than I explain, however, if you using kde, kde has an app
for setting up cups, kprint, I think, like an install wizard. Also you can
setup your printer from most kde type editors, kwrite, kate etc.

Slack installs the necessary ppd file in /usr/share/cups/models so you
shouldn't have any problems..
