One of the reasons why I use Slackware is that it is not trying to be
smarter then me (any admin) expectenig the person who wants to do
something know who he/she is doing and how to do it.

Actually I'd strongly suggest to keep away from dependency checking just
to keep diversity and choice among distros. Who wants to have dependencies
checked can easiky use other distributions that have done it for some time
now and I guess they do it well.
