Try installing the 7th tar file as well as the first 3. It contains the
xc/docs/hardcopy directory. Also, cp xc/config/cf/linux.cf to
xc/config/cf/host.def.

This allowed a successful make World on my slack 10/2.6.7 install. Haven't
had the guts to run checkinstall yet though...
