IIRC, the OP was installing SuSE from a disk she got for free from a
magazine. While I am not at all familiar with this disk, it may be that
this was a third party SuSE promo without YaST, and thus was not equiped
with the installer that those of use who use SuSE are familiar with.

Otherwise I would agree, YaST allows for various formatting options as
well as package selection.
