Thanks everybody for your answers. I will give Dropline a try. In the
meantime I found that Gnome 2.8.2 was tested with the kernel 2.6 series
and that the results with 2.4 may vary. Hm, if I want to use kernel
2.4.29 I guess I end up with XFCE....
