Default Re: No new Gnome in 10.1

Peter,

In order to have automounting working in Gnome 2.8, you need a 2.6
kernel. I've been running a stock Slackware 2.6.7 kernel with Slackware
10 and Dropline Gnome for a few months now and all is well. You can use
a 2.4 kernel with Dropline Gnome 2.8, you just won't have automount
working. You'll also have to run dropline-installer with the --force
option, but all reports are that it works fine. There is a dropline
wiki with a HOWTO on installing a 2.6 kernel from slackware
(installpkg; no compiling required), and the Dropline crew are friendly
and helpful on the forums. Good Luck.
