What do you want to do now: Install VMware on Slackware or install
Slackware inside VMware?
Both is possible and not dangerous, so why don't you give it a try and
ask for help on specific problems you encounter?
I have Slackware 9.1 running inside VMware on a Windows machine, and
will gladly help you with problems you encounter, but I don't want to
write a cookbook (besides I don't remember each minute step).
I believe in the law of 'conservation of difficulty': if something is
difficult, it will be difficult however you do it. You can move the
difficulty around (e.g. to a nifty setup program that guesses what you
want and makes changes as it thinks fit), but the difficulty will come
back to you.
If you follow a cookbook, and you don't understand what you are doing,
you can get problems because a) something on your system is different
from the system in the cookbook, b) you end up with something you do not
understand.
Sorry for the rambling,
yours,
