Slackupdate.sh is good. It also comes as a package:
slackupdate-0.7.0-noarch-1.tgz

I run it as user :$ slackupdate.sh and it download all update to:
/tmp/slackupdate You can also run:

$ slackupdate.sh -u slackware-current

And it will download current and do a full check:
Using GPG to verify files. It just does a nice job.

When you go with current make note: It will tell you in what order you
should do your #upgradepkg in. Me, I'll just wait on Slackware 11 !!!
