did the trick. i used the -f option and it ran ok so i aliased it.

Nah. I Vi'd because i couldn't mail
mind you i got an access error when i rebooted about no execution of portmap
so i chmodded it and it fixed that so when i typed mail i got the error
instantly instead of after a delay.
