You haven't missed the reply -- I've been working on armedslack recently
so haven't looked at sgml-tools again. I haven't forgotten though

Could you please email me - mozes at biscuit dot org.uk
and include exactly the steps you used to compile it and install it.
Also send me an error log -
like ( make 2>&1 ) | tee build.log

or whatever part of the process gives you the error message.
