Need help setting up wireless home network. I am trying to get a home wireless network going with some items I have.
I am running 2 boxes with Slackware 10.2 and 2 with Vector 5.1 SOHO.
I have a D-Link DSL-300I modem and a Linksys Wireless B router. I also have a
D-Link Telus wireless home networking special modem-come-router. This one I
don't like because it has every port closed That I might use. Thus back to the
Dlink modem and the Linksys router. I do not have pci wireless cards but I do
have a SMC EZ Connect Wireless Ethernet adapter.SMC2670W and a Linksys WET11
Wireless ethernet bridge. This unit has a switch that allows you to use it as a
bridge or as an access point.
I printed a ream or so of the docs on these and it is soooo confusing.
I get the idea that it would be easier to buy some pci wifi cards to set up than
this but maybe someone can send me some hints or tell me where to look for help.
I have spent a lot of time on google but it all seems to only show how to do
this if I have the pci cards. If using this stuff is not feasible maybe you
could suggest a brand and type of card I should look for.
Thanks for any help .
