How about posting hardware info....
disk controller, video, cpu type, ram.

Have you run the checksum on the disk?
for fastest test use the cdrom disk 1, and try booting it.
I have one machine that will not boot the dvd disk, installs from
it fine, but needs to boot from cdrom to see the dvd. Seems to be a bios
issue.
