I can confirm that. But it still performed better than e.g. mpg321 -
that one was stuttering, while mplayer played just fine with ~60% of CPU
load (128kbps stereo MP3 on a P1@150MHz) - both built from source with
the same optimalizations.
Just watch out what you compile in - I forgot the Theora installed,
compiled mplayer, removed Theora and then mplayer won't run complaining
libtheora is missing.
