To fix my present non working version of Debian I feel I must download
the latest (todays?) offering, and hope that it fixes more bugs than it
re-exposes.

My install (issue 17.1.05)(Sarge) has a broken Kppp, Kmail, Floppy drive,
and screen configuration (which I'm able to fix). Also I was able to get pon
working (much to my delight, but I need a visual `online` indicator). I then
tried `apt-get install Gpppon`. That failed.

Another problem is I've been trying to post here (it has worked in the
past) but is not working now. My email and reply address are valid but I
don't receive the Autoauthorizer reply. So I don't know if the moderator is
blocking me or if it is a technical problem.

If this doesn't elicit a response from the Autoauthorizer I will have to
find other ways to get my message across.
