I am running an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+. Currently I have no
problems with xmms.
What is the version you are having a problem with? Specifically.
I currently am running the following:
media-sound/xmms-1.2.10-r15
ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0.1
You might try switching audio plugin for the output source. I use alsa for
just about everything with no problems (not arts). I've also used jack
since that allows me to use the realtime hooks into the kernel. However,
that has been flaky with the newest upgrades. Are you using additional
plugins that you may need to upgrade or disable?
Also, I had better luck by using the alsa-driver package rather than compile
in alsa or oss for sound in the kernel. Here is a guide on doing that:
