| Been given an original software package of IBM AIX v4.3.3 and cannot get the CD to boot. The machine in question is a Digital PC3010 2gb HDD,166mmx CPU and 160mb RAM. It was running FreeDOS 9 but I formatted the whole drive (one partition C: Fat32 ) to accept AIX. Reading the manuals and around the web I presume AIX needs a special kind of computer for it to be installed. Was also given a Sun Solaris 9 package and had to buy a special Sun (Ultra2) computer for it. Is this the case with AIX, it needs a special IBM computer ? Also have a few MCA PS2's. |

Not to confuse with AIX 1.x running on x86 hardware, which is obsolete for a decade now. So no luck on this machine with AIX 4 -- Uli These opinions are mine. All found typos are yours. |
