Hello All,

is there a way for non root ID user in AIX will be able to run
mksysb?

$ smitty role
$ man mkrole
$ man lsrole

HI hajo..unfornately only root can perform mksysb backups....

??? HI hajo..unfornately only root can perform mksysb backups....
are you on AIX < 4.3.3 ?
You can add a user group to a role. Thus create a group named backup
and put all user who are allowed for this task into this group. Then
add this group to the Role ManageBackup.
For AIX 6.1 you should get more familiar with RBAC
