Presumably if I use Sun's format in the following way it will find all
defects? First analyse the disk surface using format -> analyze ->
verify, and then download the grown defects list using format -> defect
-> grown, followed by format -> defect -> dump.

By the way, where can I acquire sformat?

Many thanks,

Chris

we had the same problem (defect list growing) in 73gb boot drive. Finally
the disk died and replaced under warranty...
