Default dvd problems using md5-sparc

Hello All.

I burned about 1.5 gig of data to a dvd the
other day and wanted to md5 sum the files on
the dvd before removing them from the network.

Been having a heck of a time with the dvd drive
in my blade 2500 however. md5-sparc gets through
about half an hour of md5sums and the I see
several errors[1] from dmesg - like the drive is
having problems reading the media, or the drive
is just having problems period.

Anyone know what's up with this? If I copy all
the files off the dvd into /tmp and md5-sparc from
there, all seems to work well.

Thanks,
bl8n8r
