Default flash player

Hi,

Is there any possibility that we will have flash 8 on Solaris or has the
support for Sun WS stopped completely?

Any hope in this!

Ask at http://macromedia.com if you can buy flash 8 for Solaris.
Spending your money will foster it.

What about the various open source flash players, do they support the Flash
8 format?

Cheers,

Chris

Flashplayer is free for all supported platforms.

Not having flashplayer(like 8) makes Sparc platform not useless but less
attractive and easy to use as single desktop which for me is the case.

There's no flash 8 for any OS besides Windows (or MacOS?)

It always takes time. Why do you need flash 8?

What are you looking at as alternative? Windows?

I've not yet sighted a flash 8 in the wild.

Since I am a HW Engineer windows is not a option anylonger, for a few
years ago it was but we(Unix EDA) survived

No Linux is a good EDA option but maybe no native flash there either,
there are as I know of no EDA tools on Solaris x86, atleast not from
Cadence and Synopsys.

Can't Sun push/pay for a flash8 player on Solaris?

Yes flash 7 took over a year, but do you mean that works are on the way
for flash 8?

Quite alot of newssites have started to use flash 8.

I guess that most "flash creators" don't know that they can export in
flash 7 format aswell, or they use the free version which can't.

8.0 r22 is available for OS X. It automatically
installed into Safari, Mozilla, and Firefox when
I ran the installer. The installer then started
Safari and went to a page that showed it as
installed and working.

It would be nice if the installer for the Solaris
version (7 so far) was as easy to use ...

I sure hope it doesn't take as long as a real Acrobat
reader for Solaris x86 (version 4 doesn't count).
Especially as I think Macromedia now belongs to Adobe.

We pushed for flash 7 so I'm sure we can push for flash 8
(whether we are doing so is beyond my field of vision).

As of now, there seems to be no Unix/Linux flash 8 player.
