Default Ultra 5 Sol.8 install without GUI

Hi,

first: I´m not an Solaris expert.

I´ve an Ultra 5 with 64MB, yes I know it could need much more - but for
my needings it is enough - and I´m trying to install Solaris 8. But
it always starts with the CDE install mode and I wonder if it is
possible to install in a shell mode?

Is there a "boot cdrom nogui" boot command? Or something similar? Any
suggestions?

Thanks!

Carsten

Default Re: Ultra 5 Sol.8 install without GUI

I would pull the monitor and keyboard off and hook a laptop up to the
serial port and then boot the box. That way it'll boot in ASCII
mode...
