Another weird thing I noticed is this: I had two copies of "cdrw" on
the external hard disk, which were both created using the same Solaris
installation CD, but they're different sizes:

bash-2.05# cd /backup/oldsys1/usr/bin
bash-2.05# ls -l | grep cdrw
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root bin 60876 Sep 16 2004 cdrw
bash-2.05# cd /backup/oldsys2/usr/bin
bash-2.05# ls -l | grep cdrw
-rwsr-xr-x 1 root bin 52976 Apr 6 2002 cdrw
bash-2.05#

Can anyone explain why the binaries are different sizes, when I used
the same installation CD to install Solaris?

Best wishes,

Chris

Forget it. I remember patching that system now.

But I'd still like to know how to report the current bug to Sun.

Best wishes,

Chris

Roughly when do you expect that to migrate to the "standard"
solaris 10?

Thanks,

David

Maybe never, I don't think Sun like changing the desktop version between
updates. There are a lot of other changes (HAL for instance) that come
along with the latest JDS.

If you want the latest on your desktop, go for Solaris Express.
