Yes UltraSparc 3 and UltraSparc 4 boards can coexist in the
SF4800/4900 chassie

But,

You must first upgrade to a version of SOLARIS that supports
the UltraSparc 4

There are constraints on COOLING and POWER some of the
earlier 3800/4800/6800
chassies need new/changed options for FAN kits and PSU kits
if you upgrade
to ultraSparc4 system boards that draw more energy.
