| Hi, I'm curious if anybody is running an eSATA controller in a SPARC box, if any controller exists at all that is supported... I have a Blade 2500 with a PCI-X slot which I'd like to use for an eSata controller. Of course such a device wouldn't be supported by OBP, but that wouldn't matter to me at all. I've seen there exists a eSATA controller from Dawicontrol, but I doubt it is supported by Solaris. LSI seems only to have pretty expensive SAS controller, which could probably also be used to attach an external eSATA box... Can it? There exists a small eSATA box from FANTEC for 2 disks that might be perfect for backup/additional storage purposes. So I thought I just ask on the list, if anybody has already made some experiences with eSATA and SPARC... Cheers, Thomas |

Not eSATA just plain old SATA I due to the age of my machine (Blade 2000), or it would be eSATA capable I do believe. The first thing I see with ok probe-scsi-all is the LSI... > I've seen there exists a eSATA controller from Dawicontrol, but I doubt > it is supported by Solaris. I got mine off eBay for a VERY reasonable price > There exists a small eSATA box from FANTEC for 2 disks that might be > perfect for backup/additional storage purposes. Its all I wanted but LSI makes other models and I assume they would also be plug&play mpt driven on Solaris 10. |
