I believe you install a standard Debian, change the repositories and then upgrade. |

I don't know the best way but I know what worked for me and what I liked: http://www.debian.org/CD/netinst/ or a next page, http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/ (choose your poison...). Once I had the single CD (that a friend had to make for me) I booted up, learned how to use 'dselect', and the rest... -- I'm still making history |

I use net install and then: - configure my /etc/apt/sources.list, as described here: http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/ap...basico.en.html - apt-get update - apt-get dist-upgrade HTH --rob |

There's no real point in a CD of Unstable, as you get a different version every day. You might just as well install the latest versions of everything when you dist-upgrade as do it once from CD and again when you run apt-get upgrade the next time. Unstable should always be reachable from a basic Sarge, while some jumps between different ages of Unstable can be difficult. I've never had a failure to boot after a big Unstable upheaval, but I've had a non-working X several times. |

Anyone asking that question shouldn't be running unstable. -- Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced.
