On Solaris 8, I am trying to install pango 1.2.5. I get the following
error:

1.2.5, really? How about trying a reasonably recent version, say 1.20.2
or 1.21.0?

If you really want a version of pango from the summer of 2003, you may
need a version of freetype from the same period...

Better yet, build the version of pango which corresponds to the glib
already built.
