I recently spent around 30,000 with an accredited IBM vendor to buy SE ISQL ESQL I have used these products on a RISC but have new hardware. I gave the rep the serial numbers of the products on my RISC, details of the new OS (Redhat) and the new hardware. He came back with prices. Now I am not a naive buyer but I believed he had sold me the correct versions and that they'd be compatible with each other. Now I find out my esql is not compatible with thhe SE he sold me. I only found out when trying to instal. He now tells me if I get SDK I'll get esql in it. He will not exchange anything. I don't think this is fair. When I complained he said I asked for these products so it isn't his fault. Any advice on a: the vendor b: how to get these products working together? I can post the version numbers tomorrow but I wanted to see if anyone could recommend what I could do.

Please post the versions of the products that you are trying out. This should provide more details on the compatibility. CSDK is available for downloads at www.ibm.com/software/data/informix. As VG said, which version of CSDK and which version of SE did you get, and which version of RedHat are you running it on? In what way - or how do you know - that the ESQL/C is not compatible with SE? The vendor is correct; ESQL/C is now provided with CSDK and is not separately orderable. I wonder where on earth you got a separate ESQL/C from? What version is it? > I don't think this is fair. > > When I complained he said I asked for these products so it isn't his > fault. > > Any advice on > a: the vendor > b: how to get these products working together? > > I can post the version numbers tomorrow but I wanted to see if anyone > could recommend what I could do.

I got the separate esql from HIM - the vendor. He is just saying - you asked for it so I sold it to you. I asked him why he sold me an incompatible SE and he said, "you asked for SE and I sld it to you." So $3500 down and I still have nothing running. Will post the versions when I get to work today.
