Default PS/2 mouse + kernel 2.6.11 is driving me nuts

Hi,

I have the kernel 2.6.11 running fine with e.g. my MS Intellimouse on
the PS/2 port. But on one machine with a nearly identical kernel
configuration the mouse is so slow that even a double click is
impossible. This happens with gpm on the text console as well as under
X11.
The identical hardware runs just fine under 2.4.27 .

What could be the reason for that?

Many thanks for a hint,

Is it the same hardware in both cases?
You say 'nearly identical' - try a diff on kernel .config and the modules
configuration file (is mouse support compiled as module?).
Is there anything in the log files?
