Default Change Maximum File Size

hai all,
is there any way i restrict the file size
for a directory. What i mean is for some
directory 'x' there should not be any files
under it with a file size more than 'z'.
Can I do this??? plzz help me.

No. You could run a daemon that watches it, that's all.

No. It's a file system thing. You might be able to find and use a file
system that has (low) limits on file sizes.

It occurs to me that reiserfs (latest number) may have some plugin module
that allows one to fix max file size per user per dir. Ask them. Maybe
they'll add it to their feature list.

You can establish quotas. They would not affect the size of any particular
file, but would prevent a given user from using more than the amount of
space (on a per file-system basis) assigned by the system administrator.

You could also try to use the ulimit command, but it might be tricky to keep
a user from changing it.
