| Having given up on my earlier Scientific Linux 4.2 installation, I'm try- ing out Xandros 3.02 OCE. The install went easily, and after re-boot the desktop comes up with all the expected icons... in fact, everything looks good except for one glitch: the pointer won't move (as it didn't during the installation). The hiccup is probably that the 'mouse' is misidentified. The 'mouse' is actually a 3-button, PS/2 GlidePoint TouchPad that I have plugged into the COM1 serial port (pointer motion was jerky in the PS/2 port). Under OS/2, RH 7.2, and SL 4.2 the pointer works fine, tho without the 'tap' capability, which I really don't need. It is identified as a simple generic or possibly MS mouse, and does just what you'd expect from a simple mouse. But Xandros identifies the GL TouchPad as device = /dev/psaux driver = psaux protocol= Auto ps2info = 0x3 which doesn't make it work. It's difficult, and often impossible to navigate and access files without a pointer. My SL 4.2 is still operational on a different hard disk, so since I re- installed Xandros using the ext3 filesystem (its default is ReiserFS), I'm still able to get at and modify files in Xandros. But which file (or files) is the right one to modify, and what changes should I make? I noticed that the only mouse-related difference between the 'xorg.conf' file in SL 4.2 and the one in Xandros is that for 'Identifier' the former has 'Mouse0' while the latter has 'mouse.ps'. What beyond this should be modified? - Dushan |
