Sorry about the non-tech post to tech@ but as for diminishing the quality of the OBSD mail lists... Recently, the OpenBSD mail lists have attracted the attention of trolling teams. Before putting the hammer down on our dear "Chuck Buckley" in misc@ I traced him. Additional analysis links him to possibly being an MIT kid at some frat, trying to play a "joke" in the MIT spirit. I've been informed that groups of trolls using a single address but I'm not sure if it's the case for that situation... Seems the like the same clown(s) were pulling this crap on the solaris lists during spring break. http://unix.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups...laris/2004-03/ Same nimrod, same style, same address. I've got a hunch that "Siju George" on misc@ was just an incarnation of the classic "clueless" troll. If you look through all his messages, you'll wonder how anyone could be so, umm, "dense" -it's probably the nicest way to put it. The "br1an" character on Hennings bug thread here in tech@ is the just an incarnation of the "insulting" troll. Though Erblichs assumes too much, he may be real but with differing opinions on development -What else would you expect from all his vast security coding experience in "Windows 98" as shown by his headers. >Message-ID: <414640AC.C289D8AA@earthlink.net> >Date: Mon, 13 Sep 2004 17:51:56 -0700 >From: Erblichs <erblichs@earthlink.net> >X-Sender: "Erblichs" <@smtp.earthlink.net> (Unverified) >X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.72 [en]C-gatewaynet (Win98; I) Or maybe he's just playing games at work? who knows? I'll probably die laughing if he posts any more "secure" code. The regulars on misc@ and tech@ really need to fine tune their troll detectors if we're going to put an end to this crap. nuff said.
