Call me newsgroup illiterate, but I just spent the last twenty minutes
before finally finding the vaunted charter to which everyone is always
referring. I figured out what got peoples dander up about a three days
after I started visiting here, so I had never actually read it, but I
can't say it's an easy thing to find.

For anyone interested, the following link is where it is (at least I
think this is the "official" one).

http://www.orafaq.com/usenet/charter1.htm

as well as the other, substituting charter2, etc...

I just think we should point people there rather than berating them for
not having read something that in my mind, is not an easy find. I
searched on oracle charter, "usenet group charter" oracle, and about
six or seven others. I ended up with 600 hits from posters telling
other people to read it (whatever that particular search was)...LOL! I
even saw a recommendation suggesting what I am recommending, and
posters said no one would read it anyway... LOLOL!

I just think it is unfair to not provide a link to something we are
suggesting/encouraging, etc. someone read.

Thanks,

Steve

I think the primary purpose that certain of our frequent posters point
this out is to allow them to send out even more url's out that
correspond to their favorite oracle user groups. Many of us belong to
local oracle user groups luckily few of us attempt to use "drive by"
spamming over to the local user groups website.

Case in point is the 1st reply noted in this thread.

I don't think that being helpful is the motivation for that kind of
behavior.

I would guess the a large number of new people posting in cdos use
google groups making your point about the charter even more humorous.

No worries. I did wonder what the Google front-end might have done to
my original post, mind :-)
