Default Oracle 10G & DBA Studio

Last week I installed Oracle 10G on pc at home. Now I want to use DBA
Studio - as I'm used to at work - but I can't find it.

Does it need a seperate installation, or isn't it provided for the 10G
version? Or do I need to perform some configuration before to use it?
I found some info about 'oemapp' to start DBA Studio, but I can't find
'oemapp' in de bin directory.

Posibly you're running some 8i client at work?

That's right, we're running 8.17.

So I can't use it anymore? Or do I have to configure the OEMC?

Oracle changed the networking stack between 8i and 10g. So 8i clients
have a tough time connecting to 10g instances. This may mean that DBA
Studio no longer works for you for your 10g databases.

For 10g, you'll be looking towards OEM. Which means you'll either have
to set up Grid Control (single or multiple databases) or Database
Control (single database).

HTH,
Brian

I'm about to do the same, could you please post some hints /
comments / recommendations? I'd sure appreciate it. Mainly about
things to keep in mind / consider / give extra attention to. Pitfalls
to avoid. "If only I'd known about this before" scenarios.

Did you install on a single-PC setup or on a network? Windows
platform? Express edition?

Thanks in advance.

I took a lot of screenshots, just to remember what kind of things I
installed.

I alse needed to install the MS Loopback Adapter as my pc is linked to
the net using a router. To install a loopback there is a very good
step-by-step manual of oracle.

DBConsole should be installed - look at your services for
OracleDBConsole<your_sid>

The standard port for Windows is 1158
