Guys I did everything that you have suggested but the installation
failed once again.

I tried to install the previous version that I had running
(i.e. PostgreSQL 8.0.4).

Everything went smoothly and I had PostgreSQL 8.0.4 up and running
again. Then I unistalled it and installed it again. I repeated the
whole thing 5 times. Every time, the PostgeSQL 8.0.4 uninstalled and
reinstalled with no problem what so ever.

At the end I tried for a last time to install PostgreSQL 8.1.0-2.
The same F******************* problem appeared again.

It is definitely a problem of the new PostgreSQL 8.1.0-2 installer.

Does any one know how can I get in touch with anybody of the team
that develops the installer? I think they must be interested of
knowing of such a bizzare behaviour of the installer.

i noticed there was an installer and an upgrader.

i just did an install b/c i went from 7.4, but for
Ilias' case would the upgrader make sense? then he
could get 8.0.4 installed and then try and upgrade
from there.
