Hi,

I'm quite new to PSQL , trying to list all tables available in a db called
"cgi" and here's what psql gives me back, using the interactive psql shell:

With \l or \list
cgi=> \list
ERROR: parser: parse error at or near "("

with \d

cgi=> \d some_table
ERROR: parser: parse error at or near "."

Select, update, insert... Those commands seems to do ok, but no \commands
seems to work.

Does someone know what can be wrong with this?

I think you are using a psql client that is much newer than the server
you are speaking to. Generally you want to use a psql of the same
version as the server ...

Do your client and server versions differ? What does "psql --version"
show from the command line, and what does "SELECT version();" show from
within psql?
