If you mean OfficeJet 710, the standarad HPLaser model should work.

If it's a DekJet 710C, you're SOL, that's a Windoze-only PPA printer.

Pfft! "Windows only" indeed. Works great with Linux (of course) ;-)

Hey, maybe SCO could steal the driver to cobble something together to
make it work with their "products"...

In fact what I really need is to access the printer in text mode , so
may be a simple Escape sequence in the interfaces will help me .

Ah, so SCO are going to continue to bundle in free software to prop up
their tired old product line then, despite it being "anti-American"?
You'd think as such "innovators", they'd be able to come up with their
own print system.

Personally I can't see SCO ever releasing another OS - maybe they
should provisionally entitle this new OSR5 "Myth"...

Well, they might not release a new OS but I see they continue releasing
updates (which often contain a lot of new features) and drivers.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

Best,

CUPS (the Common UNIX Printing System) is shipped with
Update Pack 3 for UnixWare 7.1.3 and will be shipped in
Update Pack 2 (due later this quarter) for OpenServer 5.0.7.
As Ian points out, it will also be part of Legend.

UnixWare 7.1.4 (the next release of UnixWare 7) is also
due for release later this quarter.

But what about users prior to 5.0.7? From what I've read 5.0.6 and
prior won't be able to use these updates, so we have the option of
upgrade, roll our own, or switch to another OS. Even Microsoft now
think that is a losing game...

The Update Packs include new features and are only released for the
current releases of OpenServer 5 and UnixWare 7.

For OpenServer 5.0.6 you can use the existing System V LP print subsystem,
build your own cups binaries using the SCO supplied sources or upgrade.
