| Hi all, i've tried to understand how does slack recognise a device that i plug in (just like a digital camera in pcmcia port or an usb pen) but i didn't figure it out. For example when i plug an usb pen into i've got to try to mount it as /dev/sdax 'till i found the real name of the device...there'll be surely an intelligent method to do this, who knows it? thx Gufo -- The only unlimited thing of a PC is Micro$oft users' patience. -- Reply to |

Check the dmesg command. Something like dmesg | tail -n25 just after you've plugged the item in should show some messages about which device it's been assigned.
