Have you mark the partition active in additional to bootable?

Installing to the superblock (IIAC) installs lilo to the linux
partition, then if you mark that partion bootable and active, and if
that partition is within the 1024 cylinder limit, and as long as the
MBR still contains a valid DOS MBR, then the DOS MBR will try to boot
the active partion, (your linux partion) which contains lilo, which
will boot your system.

The only time i've found the super block option useful is when i'm using
third-party booters.. such as mrbooter, (up to 8 primary partions, and
up to 64 different bootable OS's). In this scenario, mrbooter lives on
the MBR, and each OS must boot from its own partion. For linux, it
would be lilo on the superblock, for NT/XP it would be ntloader.exe
from what ever M$ calls the superblock.. etc..

So in summary (IIAC), to use the superblock option, puts you within all
the limitations of the DOS MBR. I personally always just install linux
on the mbr and have never had a problem with any limitations.

or just edit the "/etc/lilo.conf" file by hand and then run "lilo"..
this is slackware right? we don't like/need graphical wizards to help
us run our own systems! j/k

Yes, but it was outside the 1024 limit.

This may have been the problem. The Linux partition was
outside beyond the 1024th cylinder. Somebody might want to
add that little tidbit to the liloconfig screens.

This was all done.

This is what I ultimately did.

I've run it several times.

I'm too lazy for that. I got tired of editing config files
by hand 15 years ago.
