Default GKrellm

I recently discovered GKrellm, and I like it so far, but there is one
small promlem I'm currently having.

I would like to prevent gkrellm from becoming minimized when I press the
minimize all button, so I don't have to keep it in the taskbar, keep it
nice and clear.

Currently, it minimizes, and if I don't keep it in the taskbar, I have
no way of bringing it back up.

Essentially, I would like it to behave like a gnome panel. Is there
anyway of doing this?

I am currently using Gnome 2.4 on Slackware 9.1, and gkrellm 2.1.21.

Metacity, the default window manager of gnome, can't do this. But if you
change to something like blackbox or fluxbox, it would be possible.
"gkrellm -w" starts gkrellm inside the slit (google for it or check
fluxbox.org, they explain what the slit is).

It's also possible to change the default WM in gnome. But IMHO Nautilus
have a strange behavior with *box. It could be a little tricky to get
everything work the way you want.

-w works with default gnome, except for one thing - gkrellm ignores
where I placed it last (before I started it with the -w option), and
doesn't let me move it to the opposite edge of the screen...

(it shows up on the right side of the screen, and I want it on the left
edge with my other misc stuff)

Then perhaps you should try the new Openbox 3.0, it's rewritten from
scratch, and shares no code with any of the other *boxes, but it is
modeled after them to have the same look and feel. Maybe it'll play
nicer with Gnome? It does adhere to all the standards.

Be warned, it's still lacking feature-wise.
