Default GDM Crashes on Log Out

I am running Slackware 9.1. I use Gnome and GDM, the problem is everytime
I logout of Gnome the screen goes black and I have to do a hard reboot to
get X back. How do I fix this? Is there some setting I need to change?

Thanks

Tim
