I don't know nothin' about bit torrent, but I've found some mirrors, including slackware.com, DO NOT have iso's for download. You try to dwnld and get a 550 error stating "this is not a directory" and the readme.1st file states: "If you're reading this on ftp.slackware.com, you will find that the ISO images here cannot be downloaded. This is because we simply don't have the bandwidth at ftp.slackware.com to provide ISO images. ISO downloads take a long time, and block people from retrieving small updates." Other sites, like perdue.com, only have .asc and .md5 files. It seems the sites with the most bandwidth are the one's not dwnlding. I also had a bad experience with LinuxISO.org, disconnecting after 10 hrs of unfinished download time (I've got cable, fercrysakes!). I finally found ftp.biochem.uthscsa.edu to be the hot ticket in the US. Only took 40 mins per disc using wget. nb |
