It seems a habit with Slackware to release a crappy *.0 release followed by a
decent *.1 release nowadays.

But yeah, I'm loving 9.1.

Do you have any facts to back up that claim? Like what was wrong with
9.0 that was fixed in 9.1, and how about 8.0-8.1 or 7.0-7.1?

p.s. It'll also be appreciated, and not just by me, if you'd quit

Hasn't got a clue about what "differentiation on the desktop side" is,
but given the screenshots from her desktop its obviously something she
needs very badly.

Don't you dare say anything bad about slackware! Don't you dare
imply that anything about slackware could be better!

Sorry but i wasn't trolling. If my desktop did look like your screenshots
it would probably have caused me a nervous breakdown. And no, I really
don't know what "differentiation on the desktop side" means.

One of the things i appreciate the most about XFree86 is the ability to
have several desktops and running one or a few applications in each. I
really feels this gives me a very "clean" and less confusing desktop.

But I hope your screenshots was an attempt to show as many Linux
programs as possible.

take it easy, eugenia. perhaps i should have said right away that i do
appreciate your positive review. it's just the big words in the final
paragraph that make me a bit skeptical. they sound like something a manager
might say...

Slackware doesn't have any quirks. Other distros have quirks. Slackware's
just pure Linux.

Can you give us an example of where you would use several desktops?
Could you please tell us what applications you feel you need to
spread amongst several desktops?

You don't need both desktops and windowmanagers.

The last paragraph is talking about a possible general future direction.
About innovation, engineering and not just a repackaging distro. The
"differentiation" part means the ability to offer something not only better,
but also different taste-wise than other distros. Because that's how you can
sell more: by being compatible and also have that "little tick" that makes
you different than the next distro.
