Ah to save all the speculation, I can help out here...

My main linux box has SuSE 8.1 , dvd and stuff BUT

I'm experimenting with some old Pentiums with 64Meg ram which I want to
network - just to see if I can- and want an un-bloated OS.
The problem I have is that these old boxes don't like a boot image over
1.4Meg in size and I am very definitely at the learning stage for
burning bootable ISOs.

So - as soon as I work out how... I will burn a bog standard Slackware
ISO install CD and make a boot floppy diskette which has just enough
info to drice the CDROM and find the CD's boot image.

I know I could burn the 1.4M floppy image onto the CD but I feel sure
that some of the boxes don't even boot from CD acording to the BIOS so I
guess the floppy poining to the CDROM is a safer bet.

If anyone knows of some good HOWTO pages which explain a little about
boot/root images ramdisk and the order everything happens on power-up
I'd be grateful

Cheers folks

The ISO's you made from the linux format dvd are bootable, first one is
install, second is live rescue.
If you want a bog-standard slackware cd you might want to try following the
instructions in the isolinux folder rather than using the magazine's
script.

You've checked the readmes in the bootdisks and rootdisks folders, yes?

The whole problem here is that MikeyD has destroyed his credibility
by using pgp. He's a pgp troll and it is hard to take him
seriously. The unwarranted inline use of pgp in usenet postings is
both irresponsible and unreasonable, not to mention it violates
this ng's policy and usenet standards of general netiquette.

cordially, as always,
