| Having a nightmare trying to get the iso made for Slackware9.1 from the Distro on Linux Format DVD magazine. It trundles away quite happily for ages and then tells me that it can't find all the files. While it's running I get about 30 odd messages saying directory/file not found. At the end I am told that it couldn't find 2 files. I have looked at the jigdo filelists but can't find which 2 files out of the 40 odd it can't find. I end up with 2 iso temp files which never get joined. Is there anyone who has successfully used the magazine DVD to make an install ISO? What's the secret? -- Andy Richardson |

The checksum files are not there properly, seems they left them out. Certainly the 2 files on the first cd and 4 on the second which were apparently missing were never a problem for me. > > I end up with 2 iso temp files which never get joined. Just strip the .tmp extensions. Nero gave me a warning about the block size not matching, but I ignored that without problems. > > Is there anyone who has successfully used the magazine DVD to make an > install ISO? > Yes, I made both ISOs and they worked fine. Just remove the .tmp extensions and you have two perfectly good iso images, burn them to cd and the cds should work fine. Mine did. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/4LCXseVxKm0DPWERAmW7AKCwGd0X1lCqXvz8zL99RhP7pMP2eg CgkrAa IveZA1YimcYliHES8lavgFs= =joFW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

I shall give it a go - I wasn't looking forward to downloading the ISOs at 56k speed. Unfortunately pgp gets in the way of the boot process. BTW: As you know it is a violation of alt.os.linux.slackware policy to use pgp unless absolutely required. And it most certainly is not required in this posting. Please refrain from using pgp unless it is necessary. Show some respect for the other posters. Thank you. cordially, as always, rm |

Maybe like me he has no home dvd drive, but can record the isos at work or something. |

Fair enough. Was being stupid. To whom it may concern: No, I was not talking about my use of pgp. -- Really, I'm not out to destroy Microsoft. Perhaps you should talk about it. Get it off your chest. Your continued, unwarranted use of pgp suggests passive aggression at best and anal retention at worst.
